For the mouthpiece, Acrylic plastics are widely regarded as the best to use in wildfowl calls for the vastly superior sounds the material produces. The brass head simply fits into the plastic component via an O-ring seal, making it possible to clean the call completely and take it apart if debris gets stuck somewhere it shouldn't.

To operate:
with the calls mouthpiece inserted between your lips with a tight seal, Simply INHALE (breathe in) “whee-oooo” or a slower “wip-weu” into the call in an excited sporadic pattern simulating a group of Wigeon, starting out loud to get their attention at distance, then reducing the volume as they approach to reduce the chance of discovery/spooking the birds.
If the Wigeon are particularly pressured/reluctant in the late season to come in and you find they continue to spin/circle above you but not commit to land, some quick excited short inhales strung together in a random pattern to imitate excited male birds competing for food or females can work wonders.
